Our opinion:<\/strong> The Ref. 5513 arrived on the market in 1962, approximately three years after the Ref. 5512. In a nutshell, both watches are exactly the same, except one has a chronometer movement and the other does not. Of course, this being Rolex, things are a little more nuanced than that. Regardless, it was a smart marketing move on Rolex's part, as it allowed them to position the Ref. 5512 as the more premium option of the two. This then opened the market to those who wanted a Rolex Submariner but didn't necessarily want to pay extra for a chronometer movement. And in fact, the Ref. 5513 used the same caliber found in the first Ref. 5512s \u2013 caliber 1530. Several variants of this reference exist with gilt or lacquered dials then the very rare explorer dials or even the military and comex versions, it is the most legendary reference from Rolex produced from 1962 to 1989. This one This has a rather sophisticated lacquered dial with a slightly twisted crown called \u201cbatt simpson\u201d due to its specific shape. Its dial has beautiful tritium indexes that are still luminescent in good condition, it is slightly pitted but retains a beautiful glossy mirror effect.
